Products – Sub-allotments: Parent Allotment Product for tours
Victoury allows tour operators to manage group tours with different durations that share the same availability. This setup is ideal for tours that start on the same date but offer both a standard and an extended version, such as a 7 day tour and a 14 day tour.
This article explains how to configure parent and sub allotment products and how availability is managed between them.
Setting up the products with allotments
To use this feature, tour operators need to create two distinct products within Victoury:
- A parent allotment product with starting dates lasting a specified shorter duration (X days).
- A sub-allotment product with starting dates lasting a longer duration (Y days), typically the duration of the parent allotment multiplied.

Key points of this setup include:
- The parent allotment should have the shorter duration, while the sub-allotment should last longer, aligning with the parent’s multiplied duration.
- Both products will have unique TourCodes and their availability will be managed at the parent allotment level.
- When a booking is made for either the parent or sub-allotment product, the system will deduct available spots only from the parent allotment’s starting dates.
- Sub-allotment products, while not generating their own availability, will display free places based on the parent allotment’s availability, ensuring a synchronized view of available spots.
How the product’s availability works
Availability is centralized at the parent allotment level.
- Both products show available spots.
- The sub allotment product mirrors availability from the parent.
- When a booking is made for either product, availability is deducted only from the parent allotment starting date.
- The sub allotment does not generate or deduct its own availability.
This ensures synchronized availability across both durations and prevents overbooking.
